Serial Numbers: Require at Shipment Completion

This new serialized inventory feature adds a Require at Shipment Completion setting for items that have Track Serial Numbers enabled (Serial Number Tracking Overview). When enabled, users must enter serial numbers matching the quantity being shipped before a shipment can be completed. This validation applies across all shipment completion methods, including the Ship tool, pickup processing, mobile deliveries, and manual tracking entry. The setting can also be enabled in bulk through the Item Import template for serialized items.

  • Enable the new Require at Shipment Completion setting on serialized items to require serial number entry before shipments can be completed.
  • Complete shipments as normal through the Ship Tool, Pickup Tool, Mobile Delivery, or Manual Tracking Entry; the system will validate that the number of entered Serials matches the Quantity Being Shipped.
  • Review the error message if shipment completion fails, as it indicates that the required Serial Numbers have not been entered or do not match the Shipment Quantity.
  • Enter the missing Serial Numbers on the shipment and then retry the Shipment Completion process.
  • Use the Pickup Tool normally; if a Signature, Notes, or Pictures were already collected before the error occurred, they will remain saved after Serial Numbers are added.
  • Return to the Pickup Tool after entering Serial Numbers and reconfirm the pickup to complete the shipment.
  • Download the Item Import Template from Admin > Import File > Item Type to access the new Require at Shipment Completion column.
  • Update the import file with a value of Yes for serialized items if you want to enable this setting in bulk.
  • Import the updated file; the setting will only apply to items with Track Serial Numbers enabled and will be ignored for non-serialized items.
  • Use this feature to ensure Serial Numbers are captured before products leave the warehouse, reducing the risk of missing serial information during invoicing or shipment processing.
